High Knob Utilities, Inc.(HKUI) is a Virginia corporation operating as a non-profit utility by ruling of the Internal Revenue Service and the Virginia Department of Taxation. Water quality and system engineering are subject to oversight and regulation by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and business operations are subject to the regulation of the Virginia State Corporation Commission.

HKUI was incorporated October 5, 1996, and currently operates under VDH Amended Waterworks Operation Permit No. 2187522. The corporation’s general operations are overseen by a five member Board of Directors.

High Knob Utilities, Inc. is wholly owned by the High Knob Owner’s Association, Inc. (HKOAI). The HKUI directors are elected annually by the HKOAI board of directors, collectively voting the HKUI shares held by HKOAI. The annual meeting is generally held in October.
